A while back we found some old photographic archives kept by NOAA online. There are TONS of old photographs of early fisheries, canneries, ships, etc. Too much to take in all at once. I recommend looking through them - you can find some of them at http://docs.lib.noaa.gov/rescue/USFISH/Photographs/
Many of these (like this one from Puget Sound) are of locations here in the Pacific NorthWest.
Here is one from Astoria.
