It is always amazing when the first plants in the garden appear. Lots of rain and sunshine over the last week or so. Some cold weather, too. The first corn is up, planted on May 2nd.
First weeds are up, too. The kids are already on their best behavior - 'cause if they get in trouble, they get a row to weed!
Only about 1/3 of the garden is in - hopefully this weekend we can get more planted. Last year we didn't plant anything until May 31st, so we are ahead of ourselves this year.
Hours after these pictures were taken, two crows came through and pulled each plant up, eating the remaining seed off! The corn is all gone! well, at least these first plants. More are growing now, and the kids are vigilant at keeping the birds out of the dirt!
