Its been 5 or 6 years since we've been crabbing, and all the reports from Warrenton say there are alot of big crab, so we dug out the pots and headed west.
We used to crab alot in Hood Canal, but the last few years it hasn't been as good. This would be our first time in Astoria.
We had a big load of pots and rings.
A big load of crab bait, too!
Salmon guts and heads have always been our favorite, but friends swear by shad.
We brought along some tuna heads, too, to see how they fare.
But when we got to Hammond, the weather was ugly. 6-8 foot swells with breakers, and the weather was coming from the SE - not at all good.
Only 1 other boat was out there - a commercial vessel, and he was coming in.
Oh well... we sat in the truck and Hummed-n-Hawwed a bit.
Then we all agreed we'd head for home and have breakfast at the Logger's Diner.
The Ultimate Logger's Breakfast made up for the disappointing drive.
