Drying Shaggy Mane Mushrooms

Alot of Shaggy Mane mushrooms around lately in the neighborhoods we walk.

They are mild tasting and can become very mushy quickly.

So, we dried a bunch of them, and they turned out great!

Just cutting them up quickly on the dryer board filled it up fast.

The mushrooms shrunk considerably in less than 1 hour of drying.

They are much more durable and usable now, and taste great. The drying helped concerntrate the flavor more.

They are best picked before they start openning up and become 'inky", but even when starting to darken, they taste quite good.

We're using these on soup, eggs, and a casserole.

They are a common, easy to ID, tasty mushroom.
